Saying hello to Esparreguera and our new workmates

Well it’s certainly been a whirlwind few weeks for me in Esparreguera! From flying into the country less than 24 hours before starting work to teaching full classes after less than a week on the job, there hasn’t been a dull moment! I couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome, though, and after an initial wave of new information and trying to settle into a new way of life, I feel like I’ve been here far longer than a month. In a good way! Esparreguera reminds me of Durham, my home city in England, because it’s a beautiful, historic town with a noisy neighbour in the form of Barcelona, just like Newcastle back home! However, the weather is absolutely the opposite – it’s barely dipped below 30 degrees here, and there hasn’t been a drop of rain (until this week, Gee!).  I can’t even imagine how my friends from home would react if it was 31 degrees in October. I’m sure it will continue cooling down, thankfully, and maybe it’ll feel like home when it does, but I’m loving it so far. Teaching has been exciting – not least because every day is so different, as the saying goes. Between planning lessons, being with students and then helping manage the social media during office hours, time flies and no two days are even similar, let alone the same! Working in such a friendly and relaxed atmosphere makes tackling challenges and pushing ourselves and our students easier, and with the support of everyone at Elite all of us interns have settled in quickly. I can’t wait to see what happens...
